Subgrade stabilisation began thousands of years ago using wood and bamboo. Modern methods use woven and nonwoven geotextiles, geogrids, gabions. Other products which are needed to maintain stability of the slope include turf reinforcement mats (TRM), erosion control blankets (ECB), subsurface drainage systems.
