Permathene was founded in New Zealand in 1959 by an American Civil Engineer from the humble beginnings of a basement warehouse in Auckland. Along with the help of an Electrical Engineer he commissioned the building of several polyethylene welding machines. These were new inventions which allowed for the fabrication of one piece membranes to line the foundations of entire buildings without any taped joints. This was revolutionary because the weakest point of any waterproofing is the joint and remains true to this day.
Permathene factory fabricating damp proof membranes for construction, waterproofing membranes and dam liners for water storage on farms.
Permathene New Zealand operates one of the largest factory fabrication facilities in the world.
